Did you know October has two birthstones? Yeah, neither did I. The first is pink tourmaline and the second is opal…

What great options for a fall wedding! Tourmaline comes in many different colors, but the stone for October is pink and the pinks of tourmaline range from a pale baby pink to a dark berry bordering a red. The name comes from Sri Lanka.
Opal's internal structure makes it diffract light; depending on the conditions in which it formed it can take on many colors. Opal ranges from clear through white, gray, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, magenta, rose, pink, slate, olive, brown, and black. Of these hues, the reds against black are the most rare, whereas white and greens are the most common. It varies in optical density from opaque to semi-transparent
Check out these fun pink tourmaline floral ideas. There are hundreds of options when it comes to pink and flowers. We chose to feature some designs that have pink ranunculus in them since it is ranunculus season.

And now for our opal ideas. Since opal gives off more pastel colors, we chose some hydrangeas because they kind of have the same iridescent effect as an opal with their variety of colors. Hydrangeas are also in season this time of year.
